Dreams

A lot of people are likely wondering why people dream. It’s kind of a weird phenomenon, like you have just experienced something but really, you just “thought” about it. But why?

First of all, what is a dream? According to Wikipedia, a dream is a succession of images, scenes, ideas, emotions, and sensations that occur voluntarily in the mind during some stages of sleep.

Then, why do we dream? We dream to process emotions, form memories, and explore creative possibilities. They help us process traumas and unresolved issues.

Here is one example. I was in fourth grade, and I was talking to my friend’s eight year old sister when she pulled up that she was nine and we were both eight. We ended up having fun making codes “against” her sister when she got mad at me, as she still is today. She’s getting better, but I dream about her a lot. It’s always just a casual dream where it’s me, her, and her best friend get along. I was dreaming we were at a waterpark together. I was still a bit left out, but I felt like I was being included. We slid down these fun slides together, and we got along. It was just us and her best friend. She was smiling, unlike real life. My unconscious was trying to please me, and I knew it. This was what I wished our relationship was like.

So this also proves emotional problems and relationship problems also link to dreams, where the dreams flip and warp different experiences and create a dream of our wishes. Or that’s what I think happened to my dream. One time I had such a similar experience—I was in Korea, and me and my best friend Claire were in this waterpark alone (with the lifeguards) after everyone was washing themselves in the showers. That combined with the time I played together with my friend (mentioned in the paragraph above) and her BFF.

This was a big mix up, but I understood what this meant. My wish of having a good relationship with her was being granted in my unconscious. I was pleasing myself, and reversing the bad emotions to good emotions by warping experiences and feelings into a pleasant dream that was very memorable. Pretty great “memo.

That was what I had to say about dreams, and it was pretty cool to research dreams. I really liked writing this one, and thanks to all of you guys who tuned in a supported me. See you later!
